AAA app helps drivers track gas prices

With gas prices nearly 85 cents more expensive than they were a year ago, AAA is now offering an iPhone app for drivers to track gas prices.

The free app, AAA TripTik uses a GPS-based location and map to show nearby gas stations, points of interest, restaurants and attractions, said Michael Geeser, AAA spokesman.

"Among the details that users can access are updated prices for all available grades of gasoline," he said. "Drivers can also sort gas stations alphabetically or by distance."

The AAA TripTik Mobile app also provides maps and turn-by-turn directions to any location, including local events, AAA offices, and Approved Auto Repair facilities.

Additionally, the app can recalculate routes and provide voice guidance for the next maneuver.

Travelers who want to plan a trip in advance or share directions with friends or family can use TripTik Travel Planner at www.aaa.com to create and save routes for sharing.

AAA TripTik Mobile is the third free iPhone app offered by AAA.
