Obituary: Carrol G. Varner

Beloved husband, father and brother, Carrol G. Varner, 72, died peacefully at home on May 18, after a valiant struggle against cancer. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 11,1938. He was raised in Marin County, Calif., and graduated from San Rafael High School in 1956.

Carrol was an accomplished private pilot, champion wrist-wrestler and competed and won numerous weight-lifting titles. He had his own business called Varner Supply in San Rafael for over 20 years.

Carrol was also a Rotarian and a Board of Director for the Boy's and Girl's club in Novato that he helped start.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Pickens) Varner and his children Martha (Varner) Panela, John (Lisa) Varner, Timothy (Ann) Varner, Mike and Cindy Pickens plus 10 grandchildren and two great -grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Jacqueline Varner,

Shirley (Varner) White, Bob M. Varner, and Pamela (Varner) Byers.

Carrol was pre-deceased by his parents, Carrol and Martina Varner and his sister,

Beverly (Varner) Austin.

Funeral Services will be held at Autumn Funerals in Carson City, NV, Tuesday, May 24 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Mottsville Cemetery.
