"The Music Man Jr.," a musical that tells the story of fast-talking salesman Harold Hill, is being performed by a local youth theater group as a fund-raiser for Food For Thought, a local charity that feeds needy children.

The BAC Stage Kids, affiliated with the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, will perform the musical about salesman Hill, who cons a small town into forming a marching band. Despite his con artist past, he manages to work his way into the hearts of just about everyone in town. This adaptation of the classic musical keeps its uplifting message and memorable musical score while being tailored to both younger audiences and performers. Popular songs from the original production will be performed, including Trouble, 76 Trombones and Till There Was You. The BAC Stage Kids includes more than two dozen area youths, and the show is recommended for all ages.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19, and matinees are at 2 p.m. Nov. 12, 13, 19 and 20. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for students and seniors, and $6 for BAC members. Tickets can be purchased at www.breweryarts.org or by calling 775-883-1976.

The Brewery Arts Center is at 449 W. King St. in Carson City.
