The lightning calculator is holding forth these nights in Carson, demonstrating that figures won't lie, even if the fellow making them does. A trained dog, a water spaniel, was doing some clever canine tricks on Carson street last evening. Being a free show, it was well patronized.

The Yerington City Trustees are figuring on issuing bonds to pay for fire protection and water service in the new city following a fire that nearly wiped out the town. Chances are the scheme will go through.

A Devil's tower ranger announced last night that Igor I. Sikorsky, pioneer aviation engineer, has agreed to use his experimental helicopter to attempt a rescue of George Hopkins from the 865-foot tower.

50 YEARS AGO

Chief Deputy Robert Humphrey of the Carson Police said this morning that it has been very quiet around the police department this week. A fifteen-year-old girl came into the station last night at 2 a.m. and said her father would not let her into the house. She spent the night at the police station. Police report a juvenile boy took his parents' car for a joy ride and smashed the car. No citations were issued.

Mustang Ranch brothel manager Joe Conforte's nephew, David Burgess files for general manager with the Storey County Commission.
