Six people were jailed early Friday morning after an attack on a waitress and two men at a North Carson Street restaurant.
Kendall Rubio, 19, of Reno, was arrested at 1:10 a.m. in the parking lot of Denny's on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and possession of brass knuckles. Also arrested were a 22-year-old female medical assistant from Carson City on suspicion of two counts of misdemeanor battery, a 22-year-old unemployed Carson City woman on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, a 20-year-old unemployed Reno man on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, a 24-year-old unemployed Reno man on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, and a 20-year-old Reno man on suspicion of battery and a warrant for contempt of court.
According to the arrest report, the six arrested were among a larger group of people who entered Denny's together. Shortly after being seated, the group "became disruptive and were stealing," the report states.
When restaurant employees asked the group to leave, some of the members displayed gang signs, the report states.
A waitress waited for the group to get into their vehicles, then went outside to get the license plate numbers, the report states.
Two women in the group then attacked the waitress.
Two male family members of the waitress inside the restaurant witnessed the assault and ran to her defense. Once outside, four of the men with the two female assailants then attacked the family members.
According to the report by Deputy Ben Veader, as Veader was pulling his patrol car into the parking lot, he saw one victim on the ground being punched, while Rubio was allegedly preparing to hit the victim with a baseball bat.
Veader said he ordered everyone to the ground at gunpoint.
He estimated the crowd at 20 people.
When backup arrived, deputies interviewed the victims and witnesses and arrested the six.
Rubio, the only one in the group to be booked on a felony, is being held on $20,000 bail.
The victims suffered minor injuries.
