In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Douglas County Historical Society is having a Genoa Area House and Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18.
Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members, and can be purchased at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center and the Courthouse Museum in Genoa, or by calling 782-2555. Tickets are limited.
Genoa was founded in the mid-19th century and has homes of historic and architectural significance to Nevada. The tour features seven historic homes and gardens dating from the 1850s to 1900. This is an opportunity to see inside some of these homes and gardens.
Also included in the cost of the tour is admission to the Courthouse Museum.
Homes on the tour include the Lucky Bill Thorington House, the Pink House, Genoa House Inn, Jones Ranch House, the White House Bed and Breakfast, Dake House, Dr. Eliza Cook's house, Orchard House Garden and Judy's Garden.
