A DUI checkpoint will be held Saturday in an undisclosed location in Carson City, according to an
official.
Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Darrin Sloan said the checkpoint is aimed at preventing drunken driving during Reno's Street Vibrations and Virginia City's Thunder on the Mountain, the region's highly popular motorcycle festival which brings thousands of cyclists to the capital city.
The checkpoint is part of Sheriff Ken Furlong's 100 Days of Summer, crime awareness campaign, which is coming to a close. Overtime for this event is paid for by the Office of Traffic Safety, Department of Public Safety.
