Mint coinage. The coinage at the Carson Mint for the month of March is: double eagles-$80,000; half eagles-$43,000; and standard dollars-$100,000. A group of young vagrants from 12 to 16 now are begging on Carson Street corners and are seen as confirmed old tramps. Officer Duncan has arrested four of them and is now stuck with a white elephant.

Southern Pacific has decided not to set aside a sleeper car for the stub train from Mound House to points south. Many would take the sleeper to Wabuska, arriving at 3 a.m. And wait for the Copper Belt to make connections. Now the trains arranged so that travelers from the coast arrive as the Copper Belt arrives at noon, without fatigue.
70 YEARS AGO
Paul Laxalt, who starred in inter scholastic basketball and tennis at Carson High School, is up from Santa Clara University for Easter. He is the number one tennis player on the Santa Clara squad this year.

A fire that started when an acetylene tank exploded in the basement of the Golden Hotel early this morning in Reno killed one person and injured at least 16 others. Three were reported missing.
