RENO - Carson High's boys and girls track teams had a successful outing against Galena, North Valleys and Wooster Tuesday afternoon.
The Carson boys scored 92 with Galena following at 75, North Valleys at 52 and Wooster at 27. The Carson girls finished with 94, Galena had 84, Wooster 36 and North Valleys 27.
Chance Quilling won the long jump (21-4) and the 300 hurdles 42.50, and he was fourth in the 100 (11.59). Corey Reid ran the 800 for the first time this year, and won in 2:00.31. Taylor Bradshaw won the 400 in 50.63, while Nathan Hazard took the discus in 138-2 1/2.
"That is amazing," coach Robert Maw said of Reid's performance. "First time he runs the 800 and he runs 2 flat."
Carson won the 400, 1600 and 3200 relay events for boys.
Alex Drozdoff won the 3200 in 12:42.19, Sahara Winder took the 400 in 61.13 and Rebecca Matley won the 300 hurdles in 50.41. Elena Thurman leaped 34-2 1/2 to win the triple jump. while Tiana McAllister-Daggs took the shot put with a heave of 30-7. Erika Valenzuela won the discus with a throw of 93-6.
Carson will compete this weekend at Reed on Friday and the Big George Invitational on Saturday at Douglas.
