Two female bodies found in Voltaire Canyon

Two bodies of two adult females were found in Voltaire Canyon Thursday morning, half a mile from nearby residences, near the water tower.

When deputies responded to the call, placed around 8:30 a.m., they found two adults, both Native American. The reporting party, who was walking his dog Thursday morning when he came across the bodies, original reported a dead man and woman, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

Investigators found both victims suffered from gunshot wounds and a handgun was found at the site.

A vehicle was found near the scene, and registered to a local address on tribal land, but not owned by either of the two. The Washoe Tribal Police were called to assist in the investigation, although the bodies were not found on tribal land, he said.
