Hessig, Kipling lead Tigersharks

Sixty-nine members of the Carson Tigersharks team participated in the Candy Cane Chiller in Minden over the weekend.

Dagen Kipling and Jeremiah Hessig, both 14, were the most successful at the Minden meet.

Kipling won the 500 free, the 50 back and the 100 butterfly. Hessig won the 200 free, 200 medley, 100 free and 50 butterfly, while racking up second-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 butterfly and 500 free.

Abby Pittman, 17, won the 200 breast, placed second in the 400 IM and was fourth in the 200 free. Christian Riley, 12, won the 500 free and placed second in the 200 free. Riley was third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 100 fly and 50 back. Ashley Meyer, 14, was second in the 500 free, third in the 200 IM, fourth in the 200 free, fifth in the 100 fly and sixth in the 100 free. Christy Krahn, 13, was second in the 400 medley relay and third in the 200 breast.

Kaitlyn Nelson, 12, was fourth in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast, and took fifth in the 100 IM. She was sixth in the 200 free, 100 back and 50 breast. Brett Kolb, 12, was second in the 100 free and 100 back, and third in the 100 IM, 50 back, 50 free and 50 butterfly. He was fourth in the 100 fly and 50 breast. Tallon Rauch, 15, was second in the 400 IM, sixth in the 50 breast and fourth in the 100 back, while Haylee Johnson, 10, was third in the 200 free. Kaly Branco, 13, was fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 100 back.


Elks Hoop Shoot

set for Jan. 12

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot is Jan. 12 at the Carson Middle School Gym.

The event is open to boys and girls from 8-13 years of age. Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and participants must bring a birth certificate. A parent or guardian must accompany each participant.

First and second-place winners in each category will receive trophies and be automatically qualified to compete in the District event and subsequently could be eligible for the state event, regional and International competitions.

The Elks will also provide hot dogs, chips and soda for the participants and parents after the event at the Elks Lodge, 515 N. Nevada Street.

Sierra Lutheran loses

thriller to S.Valley

Despite a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds from McKinze Tynes, Sierra Lutheran lost a 33-28 decision to Smith Valley last week.

Sierra Lutheran is 2-6 overall and 0-1 in league.

Sabrina Ronato finished with seven points, Cali Benton added six and Erin Henry pulled down eight rebounds.
