One of the most difficult things to do for someone who is caring for a spouse or parent is to communicate bad news. At some point in time, most of the 45 million Americans who are full-time caregivers must tell their seriously ill or disabled loved one something like, "you can no longer drive," or perhaps "you will be staying at an assisted living facility."
Most caregivers agonize over the correct words and the right way to speak honestly with the one in their care. Caretakers can learn win-win techniques on successfully communicating at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Caregiver Support Group meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month.
The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the church located at 314 N. Division St. in Carson City.
Meetings are free. For more information, call Deb Cash at 775-887-8846.
