ROUNDUP: Ski teams sixth at weekly league race

The Carson High boys and girls ski teams placed sixth in Thursday's giant slalom.

Skylar VanRensselar placed fifth in the boys' race, while Charles Hersey took 26th and Simon White was 34th. Brandon Foley (42nd), Lucas Wright (44th) and Nick Greene (46th) rounded out the Carson finishers.

On the girls' side, Kylee Johnson was 28th, Manon Hustinex 29th, Mary Novak 30th, Fiona McElhaney 34th, Taylor Laird 36th and Hannah Novak 41st.

Carson returns to action Monday, while the zone event is Friday, also at Heavenly.


JV BASKETBALL

Carson girls win

Gina Peacock scored 18 points to spark Carson to a season-ending 55-30 win over Galena Thursday night.

Skye Simpson added 13 and Kayla Aikins five for the Senators, who finished with a 21-4 record.

Coach Mike Berkich praised the hard work by his entire team during the season.

Galena defeats Carson

Galena built a 14-point lead in the first half and cruised to a 62-48 win over Carson on Tuesday.

Adam Peterson led Carson with 17, Andy Cooper added 10 and Alan Cohen eight.

Carson finished the year with a 14-13 record.


FRESHMAN BASKETBALL

Galena boys top CHS

RENO - Despite 22 points by Cameron Price, Galena knocked off Carson 48-42 in the season finale for both teams.

Carson ended the season 12-12.

Carson girls win title

RENO - Maddie Preston scored 13 points to lead the Senators to a 33-28 win over Galena.

Michelle Perry and Teresa Boehmer scored nine each and Natalie Young played well late in the game, according to coach Jim Bean.

Carson ended the season in first place and went 20-3 overall.
