95-year-old followed economic advice of writer
This is a new year - of uncertainty and misinformation, and the usual plethora of advice by the experts who haven't lived long enough to be expert at anything, including economics.
I felt I just must share what has been keeping me solvent all these years - my dear mentor, John C. Bogle. Bogle, with his 26-year-old replacement heart, wrote his books, and I read them and did as he advised.
Now, at 95 years of age, I am comfortably secure and blessed to have learned to heed this wise man's counseling.
It is never too late to learn. Your brain - use it or lose it.

Thank you to those who helped in time of need
Normally my letters are political and long, but not today. Today I want to just say thank you.
Wednesday I got the call no parent wants, and I had to drive to Reno in the hope that I could arrive in time to help my son. I drove very fast with my emergency flashers on and probably scared a few people and angered others. I apologize if I put anyone in harm's way, and I thank all of you who moved over so I could get by.
I didn't know what to expect, but everyone was very gracious in accommodating me when I needed it. I didn't make it in time, but I knew I did everything I could.
I want to thank the paramedics, fire department, police and everyone that showed up to help Jake. Everyone was very professional and did their most to help in a horrible situation.
Please remember to always tell those you love how special they are and how proud you are of them. You might not get another chance.

President Obama is destroying our economy
There is an awful lot of rhetoric about job creation coming from our political establishment, but there seems to be some question as to how to create them. For instance, Obama recently took credit for hosting a meeting with various business owners and managers regarding how to create jobs. The media reported the meeting as being a positive endeavor.
Now, let's look at recent events in the business world. Caterpillar Inc. wanted to build a plant in Oklahoma; however it was blocked by the National Labor Relations Board because Oklahoma is a right-to-work state and the unions opposed it. The NLRB is dominated by Obama appointees. The plant was eventually built in Indonesia.
The Boeing Company wanted to build a plant in South Carolina - a right-to-work state. Can you guess what happened? Yep, the unions objected and the NLRB opposed the plant.
Also, Obama said he would not permit the building of a pipeline from central Canada to Texas to process the oil in the shale fields. Next question, where will the oil go? China.
You're batting 100 percent. And let's not forget the restrictions on drilling in the Gulf after the BP oil spill. I know, some restrictions have been lifted, but there is no progress on drilling.
Last question: is Obama incredibly inept with no grasp of economics? Or, was his goal from the very beginning, as many suspected, to punish the United States by destroying us economically?
