Rick David Oliver, 47, who authorities say fled California to avoid sentencing for a sexual assault conviction, was arrested Friday after a short foot chase in the East Valley area of Gardnerville.

Oliver was recently convicted in Yuba County, Calif., for the sexual assault of a minor. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail and was being held without bail as a fugitive from justice. He will be extradited to Yuba County.

Adrian Dave Froid, 41, of Reno, was arrested with Oliver and booked on charges of obstructing and delaying an officer and is being held on a $637 bail. He was described as an Oliverassociate.

On Friday afternoon, members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation went to 1139 Linda Anne Court seeking Oliver, who fled the residence upon their arrival. Oliver was arrested after a short chase and struggle.
