Glenna Mae Wehl, a Carson City resident, passed away on January 2, 2012. She was 85 years old. Mrs. Wehl was born on May 24, 1926 in Laverne, Oklahoma, the daughter of Dean and Barbara Ann (Bartow) Spear. She grew up and attended schools in Laverne and Stillwater Oklahoma where she played the clarinet, snare drum, and trombone with the marching band. Music was a big part of her life. She composed many of her own songs and poems and would gladly sing them for you. Glenna was a hugger. She met and married her husband Vinder 'Ike' Gabbard and they raised three daughters. She lived in Oklahoma, Roswell, NM, Spokane, WA, Riverside, CA and then returned back home to Oklahoma after retirement.
Her faith family is in Edmond, Oklahoma at the Southern Hills Christian Church. She was active in C.W.F. and Steven Ministries. She was also part of the Grey Ladies during World War II.
Mrs. Wehl is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Tom Gibbons of Carson City; grandchildren Madolyn (Daiv) Freeman of Long Pairie, MN, Nicole (Chris) Stapp of Jensen Beach, Fl, Amber (Charlie) Bloomfield of Carson City, NV, Roxine (Chris) Dennis of Rosamond, CA and Sean Gibbons of Reno, NV, great grandchildren Siobhan Milburn, Kristgen & Kolin Stapp, Dylan and Thomas Bloomfield, Samantha & Spencer Freeman and Loralynn & Loren Dennis. She was preceded in death by her first husband Vinder I Gabbard. Also, her second husband and true love of her life Kenneth A. Wehl, daughters Lorelei Simpson and Barbara A Ward, and brothers Gerald Spear and Floyd Spear.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Autumn Funerals & Cremations. Her final resting place will be in Oklahoma.
