COMMUNITY SPORTS: Spring sports signups at CHS

Registration for spring sports at Carson High School is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the north foyer of the school.

Spring sports are baseball, softball, track, swimming and boys' golf.

You must bring a completed sports packet to the sign-ups, and all fines and fees need to be taken care of prior to sign-ups.

Packets are available online at www.carsonhigh.com under the athletics tab.

The final day to sign up for a spring sport is Feb. 16.


Baseball boosters schedule Poker Night

The Carson High Baseball Boosters Club has scheduled its fourth annual Poker Night on Jan. 21 at the Carson Plaza Conference Center.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and poker starts at 6:30. Dinner is $25, while dinner and poker is $60.

Nevada Comets holdingsoftball tryouts

Tryouts for the Nevada Comets 16 and 18-year-old teams are scheduled for Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. at McQueen High School in Reno.

WAC tourney tickets are now on sale

RENO - All-session tickets for the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament are on sale now through the Link Piazzo Ticket Office at Legacy Hall.

All-session passes for the tournament cost $165 and include all 14 games in eight sessions. The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas will play host to the 2012 WAC Tournament March 7-10.

Orders received by Nevada's ticket office by the deadline of Feb. 10 will be assigned based on Nevada's priority points system, and Wolf Pack fans are encouraged to purchase through the Wolf Pack ticket office to ensure seating in the Nevada section. After the Feb. 10 deadline, orders will be assigned seats on a first-come, first-serve basis based on remaining inventory.

Single-session tickets will not be available for purchase until the day of each game and can only be purchased through the Orleans Arena if available.

All student tickets for the 2012 WAC Tournament will be single-session general admission seats and will cost $20 per day at the Orleans Arena box office.
