Fire in the Valley: The large barn of Peter VanSickle was totally destroyed by fire. The barn contained a large quantity of hay, grain, 13 fine horses, wagons. Believed to be started from a candle which a hired man used late at night to feed the stock.

120 YEARS AGO

All sorts: The application of electricity to get old bums out of saloons is not meeting with favor. Lifting the bum out with a heavy brogan seems to give general satisfaction.

70 YEARS AGO

Postmaster E. H. Bath reports that he has a large number of stamps for sale. Each stamp will cost the purchaser $2.09 and will pay the use tax on an automobile until July 1, 1942.

50 YEARS AGO

Carson Roberts House Museum will host a Cup and Saucer Display and formal teas will be served in January, February and March. There are more than 200 cup and saucer sets, some more than 100 years old. "There are cups and saucers that are extremely valuable and some that aren't," explained Dorene Perks, event coordinator.
