The Brewery Arts Center brings the New Shanghai Circus to Carson City's Bob Boldrick Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31. It will be the only Northern Nevada appearance during their national tour.
"The show is a beautifully orchestrated presentation of Chinese circus acts dating back 2000 years," said BAC spokeswoman Denise Clodjeaux. "The modern-day performance is enhanced by fabulous choreography, amazing lighting, enchanting scenery and powerful music."
The performers will bring feats that defy gravity and stretch the limits of human ability, she said.
The company is made up of acrobats who have trained since early childhood at one of China's famed circus schools. The entire family will enjoy this event, she said.
The New Shanghai Circus was the first Chinese acrobatic company to perform on Broadway in 1999. The Circus is now the resident theater group at its own theater in Branson, Mo. It is one of the top events in that entertainment destination.
Prior to the evening performance, the New Shanghai Circus Company will host a lecture and demonstration at 4 p.m., ideal for an after-school audience.
Tickets for the evening performance are $25 general admission or $9.50 for 18 and under. Groups of 10 or more may purchase at the discounted price of $20 each.
Tickets for the demonstration and lecture are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at www.breweryarts.org or by calling 775-883-1976 or at the Brewery Arts Center at 449 W. King St.
