RAMONA ANNE HUGHEY, 61, passed away peacefully in Dayton, Nevada, on June 19, 2012. She was born August 12, 1950, in Jackson, Michigan, and was raised in various cities in Nevada and California. She attended Westmoor High School in Daly City, California, from 1965 to 1968. After graduation, she attended Skyline College in San Bruno, California, and College of San Mateo. In 1969, she secured a job with the telephone company as a directory assistance operator where she quickly rose through the ranks to various supervisory and management positions. In 2000, after more than 30 years with AT&T and its various entities, Ramona retired to North Port, Florida. She moved to Carson City, Nevada, in 2011 to be closer to her brother, Vance Hughey and his family.
Ramona was a fan of classic movies and television shows, and was an avid collector of Barbie dolls and Barbie memorabilia. She enjoyed creating fashions for Barbie dolls. Ramona devoted much of her energy and spare time to assisting elderly persons, and gave generously in support of military personnel.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, James D. Hughey and Bette E. Huff. She is survived by her brother, Vance Hughey; her half-brothers, Michael Kashi and Donald Hynes; her half-sisters, Donna Hughey Kawaguchi and Michelle Hynes Brown; her nephews, Michael Hughey and Steven Hughey; as well as various grandnieces, grandnephews, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. At Ramona's request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
