Many made BAC Founder's Day celebration a success

The Brewery Arts Center would like to extend its thanks to Carson City and all those who attended its Founder's Day Celebration on June 9.

Founder's Day was a fundraising event that recognized all those who helped establish the purchase and renovation of the Carson Brewing Company Building in its current use as a local arts agency. Of special recognition is Betty Rowe (formerly Betty Block), whose initial efforts spearheaded support for the arts center back in 1975.

We especially appreciate the support provided by donations received to date from Joyce Barrett, Collie & Charlie Hutter, Lorraine Manoukian, Ophir Mill Ranch (Kathleen Winters), Bud & Carolyn Southard, and Carter & Peggy Twedt.

For organizing the event, additional thanks go to Jed Block, Scott & Kelly Anderson, Foodies Bystro, the BAC Board of Directors, the BAC Foundation Board, and the staff of the Brewery Arts Center.

The Brewery Arts Center works to provide everyone with opportunities to celebrate the human spirit through participation in the arts. This is achieved through a commitment to present and promote quality art, advance arts education, stimulate the economy, expand cultural tourism, provide services to artists and arts organizations, address community challenges and contribute to Carson City's overall quality of life.

Carson needs more for youths to do

Carson City needs to be a more youth-friendly town. For anyone who is under the age of 21, this town has nothing to do.

I personally have been hanging out with friends in public places and harassed by police officials multiple times stating that "we are up to no good, and suspected for drug use."

What do these officials think we are supposed to be doing? There is nothing else to do in this town, on Fridays and weekends the movies are closed to kids under 18 without a guardian. With that source of activity gone it leaves nothing else but to loiter around in parks and walk around. This city needs more activities to do other than the movie theater. Maybe a club, a roller rink, a water park - any of these ideas would be greatly helpful to today's youths. This could help to keep kids out of trouble and the police officers for harassing us for no reason.
