HENDERSON - Western Nevada College bounced back from Friday's doubleheader loss to College of Southern Nevada by sweeping Saturday's twin-bill 10-0 and 12-2.
The wins moved WNC to 10-2 in Scenic West play. The Wildcats will be at home the next three weekends.
In the seven-inning opener, Dylan Baker threw the first six innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight while walking five. Brandon Jackson threw the final inningand struck out two.
WNC took a 1-0 lead in the second whn Dillon Ness homered to left on a 2-2 pitch. The Wildcats made it 5-0 in the third thanks to three hits and an error. Taylor Smart had a run-scoring infield single, Zach Hendrix singled in a run and Derrick Pitts hit a sacrifice fly.
WNC added single runs in the fourth and fifth plus three in the seventh.
Ness went 3-for-4 and Hendrix went 2-for-3. Tony Guidara singled home two runs in the seventh.
The second game was over early, as WNC exploded for seven runs on just three hits. CSN pitchers walked seven batters in the inning. The big hit was a three-run double by Hendrix, who went 2-for-3 on the day.
After CSN scored in the bottom of the first, WNC came back with three in the second on a three-run homer by Rayne Raven to make it 10-2. Raven struck again in the third, blasting a two-run shot to make it 12-1.
CSN scored to make it 12-2, and the game was stopped on the mercy rule after five innings.
