Myra Carolyn McCulloch Malespin Grupe, a resident of Star Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on March 26, 2012. Her family was at her side as she walked confidently to her heavenly Father. A funeral and celebration of life will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Nativity in Meridian, Idaho at 2pm on Friday, March 30, 2012.
Myra was born on August 27, 1932 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to Marion and L J McCulloch. At three years old, her family moved from Nebraska to Idaho and Oregon and then on to Carson City where they settled and lived most of her young life. Myra loved to tell stories of her childhood in Carson City where her father was a ranch manager. She attended St. Francis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco from 1952 to 1954 where she received her RN degree.
Myra married Ronald F. Malespin in 1954. From this union, three children were born, Melanie, Cindy and Ron. She was widowed in 1957 and married Robert V. Grupe in 1963. They united their families and Myra opened her heart to also mother his children, Steven and David, loving them as her own. The family resided in Carson City, Nevada until moving to Idaho in 1973.
Besides her Lord, her family and her friends, Myra's greatest love was nursing. She was highly esteemed by professionals in the medical field and reflected joy as she practiced and shared her expertise throughout her career which spanned 40 years. Myra's career included Director of Nurses, Carson Tahoe Hospital, Coordinator of Sierra Nevada LPN School of Nursing, St. Lukes Hospital in Boise, Director of Educational Resources, Mercy Medical Center. Myra actively volunteered for the Mercy Hospice for the past several years.
Myra was preceded in death by her mother, Marion; father, L.J.; first husband, Ronald Malespin; and late husband, Robert Grupe. She is survived by her brother, Bob McCulloch (Lynda) of Carson City, Nevada; her five children, Steve (Brenda) Grupe of Twin Falls, David (Jane) Grupe of Oceanside, California, Melanie (Glenn) Woolever of Arvada, Colorado, Cindy King of Reno, Nevada and Ron (Lisa) Malespin of Boise; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family thanks all her friends and caregivers who made her passage peaceful, joyful and meaningful.
