RENO (AP) - A 28-year-old Sparks man will stand trial on charges of killing his girlfriend whose body was found in a Carson City ravine last fall.

Sparks Justice of the Peace Susan Deriso ruled Wednesday that there is sufficient evidence for Brian Hobbs to face a murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Cherissa Davidson.

The woman's body was found Sept. 9.

Authorities say Hobbs told investigators that Davidson had become increasingly paranoid and had stabbed herself. He said he accidentally stabbed her twice and struck her in the back of the head with a tire iron during a struggle.

Prosecutors say he tried to bury Davidson in the backyard, but when that didn't work he drove to Brunswick Canyon and dumped her in a ravine.
