DAYTON -Makayla Shadle pitched a no-hitter and struck out 19 to lead Dayton High's softball team to a 9-0 win over South Tahoe in a 3A crossover game Friday afternoon.
Dayton, 5-4, faces Sparks and Truckee today in Fallon.
Only two South Tahoe hitters put fair balls into play against the hard-throwing Shadle, who threw 15 first-pitch strikes during the game.
Dayton used South Tahoe errors to take a 2-0 lead before scoring seven times late in the game.
In the Dayton barrage, South Tahoe made three errors, had two wild pitches and a passed ball. Gemma Ramirez drove in a run with a sacrifice, Kalee Alexander had a single and Shadle helped herself with a two-run single.
Wells sweeps Muckers
VIRGINIA CITY - Wells collected 37 hits in two games to sweep Virginia City in a 1A doubleheader, 6-4 and 20-6, Friday afternoon.
Lea Laney led the Mucker in the first game with a triple, single and two RBI. Sakura Brandon went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Corinna Obermayr collected a hit.
In the second game, Brandon went 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Kelsey Barnes, Breanna Johnston and Laney finished with two hits each.
Virginia City is 0-2 in league and 2-8 overall.

Dayton loses thriller
DAYTON - South Tahoe built a 10-2 lead anmd then had to withstand a seven-run seventh inning by Dayton to score a 10-9 win in a 3A crossover game.
Dayton, 7-5, plays Sparks at noon and Truckee at 2 p.m. today in Fallon.
Sam Hadley had a two-run single, Jack Phillips had a run-scoring double and Payton Morena had a run-coring double to highlight the outburst. The game ended on a hard-hit ball to center by Elliott King that was pulled in by the South Tahoe centerfielder.
Hadley finished with three hits, while Morena and Phillips added two apiece.
