(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) - The Nevada Division of State Lands is offering grants for environmental preservation and restoration projects in the Tahoe Basin.

The agency has about $350,000 that was generated by the purchase of Nevada Lake Tahoe license plates.

The money is available to public agencies for capital improvement projects that further the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's environmental thresholds.

Applications are due by Jan. 31 at the state lands office, 901 South Stewart St., Suite 5003.

Since the Tahoe plates were first issued in 1998, the program has generated more than $6 million that was used to fund more than 100 different projects.
