Dayton ‘Winter Wonderland’ follies aimed at aiding community center

An area group will perform in a follies show called “Winter Wonderland” on the evenings of Dec. 7 and 8 to raise funds for the Dayton Community Center in the Lyon County town.Talent hails from Dayton, Carson City and Stagecoach and is under the direction of Jan Parsons, who said the show will take about 90 minutes with intermission. She said it is in rehearsal and spirited.“I did one last spring,” she said. “It was the same deal.”The show begins at 7 p.m. the first Friday and Saturday of December and admission is $10. Refreshments are planned at intermission.Raffle tickets also will be available for this event, an extra twist to raise additional funds, and they are for prizes such as large baskets with wine, food and other items.Prizes are still being lined up from prospective donors but already, in addition to the baskets, there is a gift certificate for Compadre’s Mexican Restaurant at 165 Pike St. in Dayton. The restaurant is across from the from community center, which is at 170 Pike St.Parsons said the follies performance each night is “suitable for any age” and will include “some real good comedy,” along with songs of both a serious and comedic nature, plus a performer playing holiday music using bells and another dressed as Santa Claus.Carson City participants include Perry Marshall Arnn, Linda Merrill-Arnn, Gene Munnings, Dorothy Snow, Jerry Bradley and Bob and Margaret Lambert. Parsons said she, along with Jim and Suzanne Crawford, are Dayton residents; Tony Edwards works in Dayton; and Andra Woolman resides in Stagecoach.All of the “Winter Wonderland” follies’ net proceeds will be donated to Dayton’s center.
