RENO - The Carson High boys cross country team finished third at Friday's Sierra League meet at Rancho San Rafael Park.
Galena, which had four of the top five finishers, had 25 points. Douglas was second with 59 and Carson was third at 79.
Nick Greene was 10th in 17:58 and Anthony Cacioppo was 11th in 18 minutes. Tylar Chester was the third CHS finisher in 18:30, while Porforio Jauregui was 23rd overall in 18:54. The final Carson scorer was Daniel Jauregui who was 26th in 19:03.
Galena won the girls race with 48 points, while Damonte Ranch was second with 68, Douglas was third with 72 and Carson was fourth with 76.
Freshman Evelyn Delgado ran a superb race and was Carson's top finisher, crossing the finish line in fifth place in 21:03. Cindy Juchtzer was eighth in 21:11, while Alex Drozdoff, who is nursing a toe injury, was 14th in 21:44. Freshman Athena Favero and Shelby Brown were 25th and 26th, respectively, in 22:33 and 22:40.
The regional meet is scheduled for Friday morning at Rancho San Rafael Park.
VOLLEYBALL
Dayton tops Fallon
DAYTON - The Dayton volleyball team topped Fallon in four games Friday night.
Dayton won 25-22, 25-19, 19-25 and 26-24.
Dayton was led by Madison Foley who had 28 kills, two aces and two blocks. Peach Coons had 22 assists, three aces and three kills. Ashley Vickers had six aces and five kills.
Yerington swept by Lovelock
Yerington was swept by Lovelock in volleyball action on Friday. Lovelock won 25-23, 25-23 and 25-16.
Arcelia Arellano had nine digs and nine assists. Bailee Banta had 16 digs. Chloe Dane had 10 kills, nine digs and eight blocks. Kassidy Lommori had 14 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and an ace. Savena Rogers had 17 digs, 18 assists and a kill and Angela Sciarani had 21 digs and six kills.
Yerington is 22-8 overall and 5-3 in league.
Manogue sweeps Douglas
The Tigers fell to 5-9 after a 10-25, 16-25 and 13-25 loss to Bishop Manogue on Thursday night.

Carson stops Manogue
Corey Reid had two receiving touchdowns and returned an interception 65 yards for another score to help Carson to a 41-14 win over Bishop Manogue Thursday night.
Reid finished with 99 yards receiving. Nolan Shine passed for 99 yards, rushed for 62 yards and had six tackles. Michel Wemheuer scored twice and rushed for 23 yards, while Anthony Estrada rushed for 85 yards and a score.
Tyler Rogers had an interception, Gerardo Labo had a sack and three tackles and Brandon Mandoki had six tackles.
FRESHMAN FOOTBALL
Carson tops Manogue
In a battle of undefeated teams in league play, Carson got a 16-yard run by QB Victor Castro to come away with a 24-21 win Thursday afternoon.
Carson now tangles with Douglas Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Carson.
Asa Carter rushed for 112 yards including a 50-yard TD run, Elijah Fajayan ran for 87 yards, including a 44-yard TD run, and Conner Pradere connected with Ian Schulz on a 32-yard double pass for a TD.
Carson was down 21-12 at the half and held Manogue scoreless the final two quarters. Brady O'Keefe had two sacks, six tackles and two tipped passes. Austin Rudy had a key sack and a fumble recovery.

TenBroeck moves on
Douglas' Kari TenBroeck advanced to the individual state semifinals on Friday beating Coronado's Paris Reese 6-4, 6-1. TenBroeck the four seed, faces the No. 1 seed Chelsea Crovetti of Bishop Gorman at 9 a.m. today.
