United Blood Services will host its annual Sept. 11 memorial — Heroes Remembered — today at its office at 256 East Winnie Lane. Blood donations will be taken all day. The Sept. 11 memorial event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special presentation at 3 p.m.Presenters include United Blood Services Executive Director Gary Haman, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Sheriff Ken Furlong, Fire Chief Stacey Giomi and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronni Hannaman.The World Trade Center I-beam Memorial sits in Mills Park as a reminder of the Sept. 11, 2011 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.
