LAS VEGAS — A 28-year-old woman is suing Clark County and its courts, claiming a marshal sexually assaulted her during a drug search in a witness room near a courtroom.

Monica Contreras, in her complaint filed Friday in Las Vegas federal court, says her civil rights were violated when marshal Ron Fox groped her when she was at Family Court for an August 2011 hearing on her divorce.

Hearing master Patricia Doninger is accused of ignoring Contreras when she complained to her just after the incident.

Contreras was arrested after she wouldn’t recant her allegations.

County and court officials declined to comment, saying the suit involves a personnel matter.

Fox earlier denied the allegations and was fired.

His lawyer filed a court petition seeking to overturn the firing, saying Fox didn’t get a fair hearing.
