Fallon woman faces weapons charges

A 29-year-old Fallon woman appeared Thursday in Justice Court on weapons charges.

Jessica Jeanne Nunes (aka Whiteman) faces eight counts of an ex-felon not to posses a firearm. Nunes was arrested April 10 after her bail was revoked on a Court Services violation for testing positive for amphetamines, according to court records.

According to the criminal complaint, Nunes was in possession of a .300-caliber rifle, an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington 30-06 rifle, a Marlin 30-30 rifle, Winchester 12- and 20-gauge shotguns, a Berke .380 and a .22-caliber rifle.

She was previously convicted of assault on a public officer. Nunes also faces other charges in a separate case for felony assault on an officer with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor obstruction of a public officer.

In court, Nunes’ attorney, Jacob Sommer, asked for his client’s release pending a drug test. She will appear for a status hearing on May 2.

According to court records, on Feb. 7 two Churchill County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Nunes and three male acquaintances after a rollover accident was reported on Indian Lakes Road.

One of the deputies searched one of the men in his vehicle, and the deputy started to look under the seat. Nunes stopped the deputy and said, “A warrant is needed.”

The deputy replied it was not in this situation.

According to court documents, Nunes then took off the parking brake and drove the vehicle with the deputy half inside, down the road until the second deputy forced Nunes to stop.

The deputies called members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force to the scene after a suspicious conversation from the four suspects. A .38 Special and stun gun were discovered under the seat.
