State lawmakers are eager to build a memorial for Nevada’s fallen veterans on the state Capitol complex.

Members of the Senate Natural Resources Committee heard Democratic Sen. David Parks of Las Vegas present SB230 and promptly passed it out of committee unanimously.

The memorial would be funded solely by public donations and the design and construction of the memorial would be done through a nonprofit mechanism.

Supporters say the memorial would provide solace for families and keep the memories of the fallen alive.

The bill now heads to the Senate floor for a full vote.
