(AP) — Washoe County sheriff’s deputies have captured an escaped inmate south of Reno.
Deputy Armando Avina says 33-year-old Williamson Lowery walked away unnoticed from a work detail job near Davis Creek Park about 9 a.m. Thursday.
He turned his orange inmate suit inside out and wandered through a residential area for about an hour before authorities apprehended him in Washoe Valley.
Avina told the Reno Gazette-Journal inmates on the work crews collect trash and pull weeds under the direction of a park ranger. He says they are carefully screened and must not have any history of violence.
Lowery originally was arrested by Reno police March 2 on an open container charge. Avina says he may face an additional felony escape charge and he won’t be allowed on any work crews.
