Consideration of the new superintendent and possible layoffs of licensed and classified personnel headline the Churchill County School District Board of Trustees’ regularly scheduled meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. in the district administration office, 690 S. Maine St., in “The Pit.”
Approval of a contract for Dr. Sandra Sheldon is listed on the agenda for a meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Sheldon was formally offered the position by trustees at their April 4 meeting, and contract negotiations have been ongoing since then. Sheldon is the current superintendent for the Warden School District in Warden, Wash.
Due to 2013-14 budget concerns, trustees may take action to approve reductions in force for licensed and classified personnel.
Trustees will also discuss or take action on the following items:
Recognize members of the district’s Superintendent Search Community Review Committee.
Recognize members of the HOSA Future Health Professionals state competition.
Recognize Braden Benecke, who was selected by Gov. Brian Sandoval to represent Nevada as a delegate for the 50th annual National Youth Science Camp.
Consider a revised Request for Proposal Document for Legal Counsel.
Consider Resolution 13-07 authorizing medium-term obligations in the maximum principal amount of $1,125,000 to refinance certain outstanding obligations of the district.
CCHS Principal Kevin Lords and Athletic Director Brad Daum will give a presentation regarding the process used to hire and evaluate district coaches for athletic programs.
Hear an update regarding the Distance Education program and the application due to be submitted to the state on May 1.
Consider approval of the Capital Improvement Plan.
Consider a settlement for Katherine Giomi and Cortney Dahl regarding early retirement incentives under Policy 4811, with possible modifications to deadlines, years of service and other details.
Approve a contract award for asbestos and lead material testing and air clearance sampling in the Minnie Blair building at CCHS, the CCMS gymnasium, as well as E.C. Best Elementary School and Northside Early Learning Center.
Approve contract award for testing services and special structural inspections for summer work to be funded by bond proceeds.
Approval of pre-order for heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment at E.C. Best and Lahontan elementary schools, as well as Northside Early Learning Center.
Approval of Numa Elementary School design change order to add parking lot lighting.
Consider CCMS gymnasium design change order to change the scope of design.
Consider Northside Early Learning Center design change order to change the scope of design.
