LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas judge set bail at $16,000 and placed a 28-year-old police officer on house arrest pending a January preliminary hearing of allegations that he sexually harassed women he met during routine calls.

Justice of the Peace William Kephart agreed Thursday to allow Solomon Coleman to remain free for 24 hours pending processing and release from the Clark County jail.

Coleman’s lawyer says Coleman will post bail.

Coleman wasn’t asked to enter a plea to oppression under color of office with threat of force, a felony, and four misdemeanors including gross lewdness and taking pictures of a person’s body.

He’s suspended from work pending departmental action.

Among other charges, Coleman’s accused of instructing a woman whose boyfriend had been arrested to disrobe so he could check her for bruises.
