March 4, 1943 - June 27, 2013

Robert “Pete” Hanson Howe died suddenly and unexpectedly June 27th, at Renown Hospital in Reno. His family and friends are devastated. The community has lost a man of immeasurable personal and business integrity. He is missed by all.

Pete was born March 4, 1943, in Charlotte, Michigan, the son of Walter Norris and Joyce Howe. He moved to Carmichael, CA, with his parents when he was five years old and remained there throughout his childhood and school years.

He grew up in the construction industry, working in his father’s company from a very young age. In 1969, he moved with his family to South Lake Tahoe, where he ran a branch of his father’s company. Howe Construction, Inc. followed in 1977, which he brought to Dayton, NV in 1986, and where he remained until his death. He was well-known for his commitment to quality building and making his clients happy.

Pete’s ever-constant passion in life was EVERYTHING cars, and later in life, golf. Nothing gave him more joy than to be driving his roadster and traveling the highways and back roads to all types of wonderful destinations in the company of the many friends that shared his passion. And the camaraderie that he shared with his golfing buddies on the links and in the clubhouse made his eyes light up. Pete loved life.

Pete was a devoted father and nothing brought a smile to his face more quickly than being in the company of his five grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, David (Jill) and Michael (Christy); and daughter, Sarah; his parents, Walter & Joyce; one sister, Dianne; and grandchildren, Asa, Aidan, Allea, Chandler and Carly Howe.

Cremation was arranged by Autumn Funerals & Cremations and his ashes will be placed in Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe, CA. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at Dayton Valley County Club on Saturday, September 7th from 1 to 4 p.m.
