Mayor Crowell receives State Bar of Nevada Presidential Award

Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell has received the State Bar of Nevada Presidential Award, which goes to a bar member who has been practicing law at least two decades.

Crowell, a Tonopah native who grew up in Carson City, was recognized by his bar colleagues for conduct exhibiting honesty, integrity and the highest standards of the legal profession. The award also is given to one person annually for advancing the administration of justice and bringing honor to the field of law.

Crowell is a stockholding partner with the statewide law firm Kaempfer Crowell, which has offices in Carson City, Reno and Las Vegas. The Vietnam War-era veteran and retired Navy captain’s law practice focuses on government relations, including legislative affairs, and a host of related fields.

A past president of the State Bar of Nevada, he also served on that organization’s board of governors for seven years.

Crowell is in his second term as mayor of Carson City and prior to that served 11 years as a member of the school board of trustees. He twice served as the school board’s president.

A graduate of Stanford University in economics, Crowell earned his doctor of jurisprudence degree from Hastings College of Law in 1973 and was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada the same year.
