Walter Ned Hudson, age 88, passed into God’s hand on August 10, 2013.

Ned was born in Mesick, MI and worked hard as a young boy helping his father farm. He attended Mesick High where he excelled in football and basketball. Soon after graduating he joined the Navy and played drums for the Navy’s Drum and Bugle Corp. He also boxed for the Navy. He then volunteered to be one of the Navy’s armed guards stationed aboard merchant marine ships bringing supplies and armaments to troops fighting in the Pacific.

Following the war, he married Frances Lorraine Byrne and moved from Ukiah, CA to Michigan to start one of the first drywall companies in the state. They moved to Phoenix, AZ with their children in 1957.

A successful contractor in Phoenix for 30 years, Ned and Frances retired to Carson City in 1983. They were joined by their son, Donald; daughter, Susan and her husband, Harry Burchfield; and grandsons, Jevan and Caedron Burchfield. Ned was a great grandpa, a dad that could be counted on, and a man who was always willing to help someone out.

Ned is preceded in death by Frances, his wife of 56 years, and their beloved granddaughter, Amy.

Small graveside service on Wednesday, September 4th at 11 a.m. at the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.
