Lecture about energy and business set
Amy Lewis, a massage therapist and Radiant Health for Life strategist, will present “From Pain to Purpose: Three Steps to Relax Your Body, Renew Your Mind, and Restore Your Divine Feminine Guidance” at eWomenNetwork Reno/Carson/Tahoe Chapter’s meeting from 5 to 8:15 p.m. Dec. 18 at Hidden Valley Country Club, 3575 E. Hidden Valley Drive in Reno.
Lewis will talk about an ancient technique that helps remove body blocks that keep income and purpose frozen; the body sign that prevents business owners from being fully present; a breathing technique that can help to make smart, fast decisions; and how the “Three Fs” maintain the cycle of toxic stress and chronic pain.
Doors open with informal networking at 4:30 p.m. Admission costs $40 for eWomenNetwork members, $50 for non-members and $60 for late registrants beginning Friday. Vendor display tables are available. For more information or to register, go toewomennetwork.com/chapter/reno or call Annie Goni-Stewart at 775-747-2726.
Carson Tahoe Health holds SANE training
Carson Tahoe Health was selected by the International Order of Forensic Nurses as the West Coast site for the clinical portion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training course. The training took place Nov. 18-19 at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where 15 nurses were certified, including four Carson Tahoe Health employees.
SANE refers to a registered nurse who has been trained to provide comprehensive care to sexual assault patients in a medical environment. These nurses receive specific training in evidence collection techniques, including how to gather physical evidence such as DNA, or nail and hair fibers in sexual assault cases.
The training was funded by grants and took more than two years to arrange. Carson Tahoe Health will partner with Advocates to End Domestic Violence and law enforcement officials to perform these high quality exams. For more information, go to www.iafn.org or www.carsontahoe.com.
ThinkFirst allies with Sierra Neurosurgery
Sierra Neurosurgery Group announced its alliance with ThinkFirst of Northern Nevada, the Reno-Tahoe area chapter of the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation.
ThinkFirst of Northern Nevada was founded in 2011 by Sierra Neurosurgery Group’s Dr. Lali Sekhon, with the purpose of helping prevent head and spinal cord injuries among children and teens. The national organization was founded in 1986, and each locally established chapter is sponsored by a local neurosurgeon. In April, Sekhon was named 2013 Physician Sponsor of the Year.
ThinkFirst of Northern Nevada is headed by chapter director Kathy O’Sullivan. Each year, it hosts a helmet giveaway in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club Bicycle Rodeo and visits high schools to present information about brain injuries.
