Dayton High’s Austin Fletcher was named Division 1-A first-team all-state running back and second-team linebacker by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Fletcher set a school record for rushing with 1,627 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 233 yards and two more scores.
On defense, Fletcher finished with 114 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery, two caused fumbles and two pass deflections..
Lowry’s Calvin Connors was MVP, Fallon’s Morgan Dirickson was Offensive Player of the Year, Moapa Valley’s Justin Hughes was Defensive Player of the Year and Moapa’s Mat McDermand was Lineman of the Year.
Faith Lutheran’s Vernon Fox was named Coach of the Year.
Tahoe group offers winter programs
Between January and March, area residents can discover the beauty of the Tahoe Basin with free, guided snowshoe hikes and snow camping courses from the Tahoe Rim Trail Association. Winter programs will be offered Jan. 11 though March 30.
There will be hikes offered for every level of hiker from beginner to advanced. The trails range between one and eight miles. There are a minimum of two guides per hike and maximum of three depending on the length. The TRTA is also offering educational family outings including a Winter Wildlife Survival program and Winter Animal Tracking.

If there are any cancellations or changes due to dangerous weather and poor road conditions, they will be published on the TRTA registration page by 5 p.m. the day before the event.
Season passes for CVGC on sale now
Season passes for the 2014 season at Carson Valley Golf Club are now on sale.
A single walker can play the entire year for $925, and if you want a cart the cost is $1,400. A couple walking would cost $1,600 and with a cart it would be $2,350. Season passes are non-refundable and non-transferable. It may not be used for outside tournaments or league play.
Carson Middle wins 7th grade title
Carson Middle School won the 7th grade Tah-Neva championship by beating Alder Creek 51-22 in the finals.
Carson Middle beat Sage Ridge, 41-13, in the opening round, and then edged Carson Valley, 26-18, to reach the finals. Carson Valley had defeated Carson Middle twice during the regular season.
