Mary E Wheeler Windham, passed on December 23, 2013. Mary was born Miriam Margret Elizabeth Wheeler to Jewish Polish Imigrant Isadora Miriam Wheeler ( formally smith - Krystal) and Russian imigrant Morris Wheeler in Suffolk county Boston on August 7, 1912. Her parents had Doris, Joseph, Anna, Mary, Fannie and other siblings. Mary went to stay with family as a child in the Texarkanna area with cousins and uncles Columbus Wheeler and his wife on their farm. The family loved to farm and took in orphaned Jewish children into their jewish family. The zadock twins of Abraham and Rebekah two children whom lost their family to yellow fever & two others the Eubanks children became an addition to Columbus’s household as well, giving them the wheeler name.
Mary met Ralph Windham a Jewish child of Byrtha “Byrd “ Windham of Alabama from Holland and they married congregation Anashe Emmeth and began her family. They later moved away to California and had their daughter Connie. In 1974 Mary moved to Dayton Nevada. She worked at the Orangeby house for a number a years and retired in Dayton Nevada on her 2 acres where she kept a garden, chickens and Raised her own food. Mary loved the quiet tranquility of the out doors. She loved to bake , cook, garden & helped raise her two grand children Elisheva and Devorah. Just like she loved to watch things grow , so did she watch her family grow. Mary is the beloved mother of 5 children “Lary” Windham, Richard Windham, Gersha “ Gary “ Windham -Ellis , Byrd Windham- Evans & Connie Windham formally Connie Mordoch. Her grandchildren Elisheva Mordoch , Devorah Mordoch , Sean Evans, Brooks Evans , Keri Ellis , Larys daughter and son & 15 great grandchildren will miss her dearly. Mary loved the Texarkanna area so much she wished to have this be her final resting place.
The graveside service in Russelville Arkansas will be at rest haven memorial park at 10 am. Shiva information is as follows : The family will be receiving guests at Walton chapel. May the family be comforted, along with all those who mourn for Zion and Jerusalem.
