The Carson girls varsity basketball team lost 63-45 to Valley View on Monday during the West Coast Holiday Festival in Los Angeles.
Savannah Smith led the team with 14 points. Natali Salas added seven points and Gina Peacock and Cameron Sievers each added six.
“We are doing well, we are starting to gel,” coach Nate Tolbert said about Monday’s game.
Carson beat Frederick Douglass on Saturday, 67-39.
JV GIRLS
Wooster 42, Dayton 17
Dayton fell 42-17 to Wooster to end the State Farm Holiday Classic on Monday. Makayla Olson led the team with six points.
Hoop shoot Saturday
Carson City Elks Lodge #2177 will be hosting the 2014 Elks National free throw hoop shot on Saturday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William St.
The shoot is open to all girls and boys ages 8-13 by April 1. Bring a birth certificate or age confirmation for each registrant. Registration is from 8:30-9:30 am with the competition beginning shortly thereafter. A parent or guardian must accompany each participant.
First and second place winners in each category will receive trophies and be automatically qualified to compete in the district event and subsequently could be eligible for the state, regional and international competitions.
The Elks will also provide hot dogs, chips and soda for the participants and parents after the event.

Free throw championship Jan. 18
The Knights of Columbus Council #4781 will hold its free throw championship from 10-11 a.m. on Jan. 18. The event will be held at Carson Middle School, 1140 W. King St.
