A food drive called "Stuff the Bus" is planned at the Carson City Community Center on Saturday.

Sponsored by city government and the Jump Around Carson bus service, the goal for Saturday is to fill a JAC bus with canned food to help people in need of nutritional items throughout the community.

All proceeds, according to city officials, will benefit those served by the food bank at Friends In Service Helping.

The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. just five days before Valentine's Day, will feature a bus parked at the community center for donations.

Organizers seek canned goods because they cannot take perishable food items.

The FISH mission is to provide food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to homeless and hungry people in Carson City.

The mission statement also notes the organization's objective is to provide programs and referrals to families or individuals so they may become self sufficient.
