Gov. Brian Sandoval has named veteran wildlife biologist George Tsukamoto interim director of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.He replaces Ken Mayer, whom Sandoval asked to resign.“George’s extensive experience as a wildlife biologist and administrator in Nevada will enable him to effectively lead the Department during this time of transition,” Sandoval said.Tsukamoto has 43 years of experience as a wildlife biologist, 33 of them at the Nevada Department of Wildlife. He was chief of the Game Division for 13 years. Tsukamoto will begin in his new role today and will assist in conducting a national search for a permanent director.
