Friends of a 19-year-old woman killed after an apparent January road-rage incident are holding a fundraiser, raffle and silent auction Sunday to help pay for raising her 5-month-old son.
The fundraiser for Desiree Bragg’s son, Tristan, will be at 2 p.m. at the High Sierra Brewing Co. on North Carson Street.
Organizers still seek donations for both the raffle and the silent auction. To set up a donation, call Halley Smith at 714-931-0749.
“A lot of local businesses have been supportive,” organizer Stephanie Murry said.
Among the silent auction items are homemade quilts, a hand-crafted silver necklace and a bicycle.
Murry, a former roommate of Bragg’s aunt, knew Bragg well.
“She spent a lot of time over at our house,” she said. “She gave herself the name Mini-Me. She was my Mini-Me.”
Bragg, a 2011 Carson High School graduate, died from her injuries Jan. 30 at a Reno hospital, four days after a 28-year-old Carson City man allegedly pinned her against the side of her mother’s house with his car. Leonardo Cardoza had allegedly tailgated Bragg and her fianc for about two miles. He faces a murder charge and an attempted murder charge and has a hearing set for March 22.
