LAS VEGAS (AP) - Gene Segerblom, a former Boulder City Council member and four-term state assemblywoman, has died at the age of 94.
Her son, state Sen. Tick Segerblom, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she died Friday night at Boulder City Hospital after a lengthy illness.
The Segerblom family has been involved in Nevada politics as Democrats since 1906, when Gene Segerblom's grandfather was elected state senator from Humboldt County.
Gene Segerblom, who served in the Assembly in the 1990s, was born March 15, 1918, in Humboldt County. Her son says her ancestors were Pony Express riders.
She became active in politics after she retired as a high school teacher.
Tick Segerblom says his family is the only one with four generations that have served in the Nevada Legislature.
