Teen sentenced to three years in beating

An 18-year-old Carson City man was sentenced Monday to up to nearly three years in prison for severely beating another man at a party on Hillview Drive last June.Tevin Ahdunko was sentenced by District Judge James Russell on a single count of battery with substantial bodily harm to 14 to 35 months in prison and $25,572 in restitution. The victim was found lying in the driveway of the house, breathing but unresponsive and bleeding from the face, according to the arrest report. Moises Alvarez, 19, was flown by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment of injuries to his face and blood in his lungs.An intoxicated Alvarez vomited on Ahdunko’s girlfriend. Ahdunko allegedly saw this and punched Alvarez in the face. Alvarez fell to the ground and, according to the arrest report, Ahdunko continued to punch the victim in the face, and then proceeded to stomp on his head and face.Ahdunko told detectives he had been drinking at the party before the incident.Man pleads guilty to traffickingDaniel Nunez-Astorga, 28, of Carson City, arrested after a five-month investigation by the Tri-Net Task Force, pleaded guilty Monday in district court to two counts of trafficking a controlled substance.The investigation netted investigators over a pound of cocaine in the case. His alleged accomplice, Edwin Delara-Manrequez, was also arrested on trafficking charges.The investigation stemmed from a cocaine bust in Washoe Valley, according to the task force. A search of the accomplice’s house, on Aug. 14, turned up 586 grams of hard-block cocaine, according to investigators.The Tri-Net Task Force is made up of investigators from the sheriff’s offices of Douglas County, Carson City, Lyon County, Storey County and investigators from the Department of Public Safety’s Investigation Division.His sentencing is set for May 6.
