Live Local Fallon was created to encourage and reward those who shop, eat and obtain services at locally-owned establishments.
Rick Gray, executive director of the Fallon Tourism and Convention Authority, said the program is aimed at encouraging local residents to take advantage of their hometown businesses and community activities.
In return for their support, residents are encouraged to pick up their Live Local Fallon Passport to earn perks along the way. The distribution of passports began on Monday.
By using the passport, residents can make purchases, utilize services, attend events and even volunteer while earning monthly rewards. Those rewards include mugs, T-shirts, and local business gift certificates and rewards.
In June 2014, the city of Fallon will commemorate Live Local’s inaugural year with a celebration and grand prize giveaway open to all those who have demonstrated their support throughout the year.
Gray said Passports can be picked up at City Hall, the Fallon Chamber of Commerce, the Fallon Convention Center and local businesses.
Note: The Fallon City Council will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 55 W. Williams Ave.
