Special license plates to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Nevada’s admission into the Union are now available at all Department of Motor Vehicles offices in the Silver State.
A set of the license plates with standard numbering costs $33.50. Motorists who wish to swap out an existing set of Nevada plates may do so by bringing their old plates to a DMV office. No registration renewal or smog check is required, but there is an additional $5 plate substitution fee for existing registrations. Personalized plates cost of $68.50.
From each sale, $25 will support the celebration of Nevada’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Unlike other Nevada plates, the sesquicentennial plates feature embossed lettering.
“The DMV is proud to help all Nevadans celebrate our 150th anniversary,” said Troy Dillard, DMV director. “These plates are one way nearly everyone can show pride in their state and celebrate an important milestone.”
Nevada became the 36th state on Oct. 31, 1864. The Nevada 150th Planning Committee is planning a year-long celebration beginning this October. Visit www.nevada150.org for more information.
