The roar of the drag strip will kick off the annual Octane Fest on Friday.
Top Gun Raceway will host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Pacific Division Friday through Sunday in an action-packed weekend.
The series joins the rest of the motorsports slate as the 2013 Octane Fest puts the pedal to the metal Friday. Gates open at 8 a.m. Friday at Top Gun and Saturday’s qualifying sessions run at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The event will feature drivers in nine categories including Comp Eliminator and Super Stock as well as the Pacific Division Top Sportsman Series, Top Dragster Series and Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson.
In addition, Blown Alcohol Altereds, Comp Eliminators, muscle cars, and a supercharged race called Desert Heat featuring “The BEAST” jet dragster driven by Jeff Atamian takes on “Jet Lagg,” a jet powered diesel truck driven by Curt Robinson. Each reach speeds of 250 mph and will burn up one of the best drag strips in the west. The race runs at 3 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday.
Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Top Gun Raceway are $10 Saturday and $10 Sunday. Children are just $5 each day and kids 5 and under are free with a paid adult.
The NHRA event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.
